Production of Wajima-nuri is divided into 124 specific stages, which belong to one of ten distinct stages of production.
Wajima craftspeople will specialise in one specific stage,and it is this precise division of the stages of production that has allows techniques to become so polished, and that differentiates Wajima-produced items as being products of many centuries of delicately honed tradition.
It is also what keeps quality so high.
Each craftsman or woman at each stage of production is dedicated to maintaining superlative quality, without compromise.
Only items that have passed through this strict process can be called true Wajima-nuri.
